Welcome to Ripping Yarns!

No longer the domain of elderly ladies in rocking chairs, knitting has experienced a huge resurgence in recent years, particularly among young women. Sure, you can still find patterns for baby blankets, lace collars, and sweaters for your cat, but now you can also find patterns for bikinis, hats with devil horns, and even a knitted uterus!

In addition to the many knitting pattern and instruction books that have hit the shelves in the past few years, knitting has found its way into a number of popular fiction titles. You probably won't find any knitted body organs here (although you never know), but you will find reviews and discussions of a number of knitting-themed novels. Have you read any great knitting books lately? Tell me about them.

I started knitting 44 years ago and am self taught. I have been crochetting for 34 years it took me longer to learn to crochet. My grandmother and sister tried to teach me with the thread but I crochetted to tight. One day I picked up my knitting yarn and started to crochet. Now I can crochet with just about anything. :D
I joined a Monthly Dish Cloth knit along and love it. I get to learn all kinds of new patterns and stitches. The dish cloths are almost impossible to wear out. I crochet decroative boxes and put the dish cloths with lotion or bath items in with them, then give them as gifts.
That is what I'm up to right now. <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxdm117SOUS%2526i%253D23%252F23%255F18%255F106%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_18_106.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D23%252F23_18_106%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

"Kniiting for Peace"....loved it. Love the patterns, nice and easy. Compulsive over-knitters like me want and need ideas on how to heal the world through knitting.
